I'm in the process of planning my 60 cube. I'm going to run a 10g tank for the skimmer heater and what not and a 10g tank for the refuge. 60 gallon will drain into the 10. The 10 into the other 10 and pump back to the 60. What size return pump would you guys use?

Depends on what you want to run. Triton method says 10x total water volume, so probably 600 gph. But most usually do 4-5x for return which would be 240-300 gph. I'd get a pump that could handle 400-600 minimum and either a DC pump that you could tune down or an AC pump and use a gate valve to tune it down. Remember to add head pressure to your calculations too.

Perfect that's what I had planned out. 1000gph dc pump. Now what about flow. I'm looking to do a mixed tank more sps sided. I'm thinking of a gyro style pump.

I run 2 geyer pumps on my tank and they move a ton of water! If you have a sand bed you will need to watch it because they will blow the sand around if they are turned up.
